NOT since Michael Jackson has there been a thriller like this.
The first Peterborough Diamonds Ladies team have been no strangers to the headlines during a dazzling opening to their debut senior campaign.

They are flying high at the top of the Fenland League and have now added an impressive Northants Women's
Cup scalp to their list of achievements.

The city aces accounted for a Daventry outfit that play their league football two levels higher up the Ladies ladder after a fabulous first half was followed by a desperate defensive effort after the break.

Dani Croucher broke the deadlock with an acrobatic strike from a Beth Login delivery before – and provider soon became scorer as Login doubled the lead with a 20-yard drive.

A cool Zoe Watkins strike eased Diamonds further ahead and the match looked over when Joyce Worth turned in a Harriet Ford chip with the interval looming.

But Daventry hit back with a vengeance when claiming three second-half goals and only a whole host of fine Hannah Arnold saves preserved Diamonds advantage.

Diamonds: H. Arnold, S. Slann, S. Garwell, C. Watts, H. Ford, B. Login, B. Lelliott, E. Stebbing, A. Webster, Z. Watkins, D. Croucher, J. Worth, C. Lovesey.
