PETERBOROUGH Ladies have county cup glory on their minds.
Maria Rudd's side stormed into the semi-finals of the Cambs Cup by seeing off Haverhill 3-1 at the weekend to erase the memory of a dismal Eastern Regional League Cup elimination at the hands of Haringey a few weeks earlier.

Donna Nicholls fired the city side ahead after collecting a flick from her player-boss but the lead was short-lived as a goalkeeping error allowed Haverhill to level.

But Peterborough were the dominant side in the second half. Rudd continued her role as chief provider by releasing Vicki King to restore the advantage before Clare Knibbs tucked away the crucial third goal.

Rudd said: "We should have put the game to bed early on, but we allowed Haverhill back into it and then had to work hard in the second half to restore our lead.

"We scored three very good goals but we lacked pace and effort at times. This result makes up for losing disappointingly in the League Cup."

The reward for Rudd's aces is a semi-final meeting against Cambridge United on March 16.

Peterborough Ladies have been left flying the local flag after fellow city side Peterborough Azure crashed out 2-0 against Cambridge University.

Peterborough Ladies will be running an Under 17 side next season after receiving support from the Hunts FA.

The team will be playing league games against FA Centre of Excellence squads. Dates of trials for the 16 available places in the squad will be announced in the near future.

Rudd added: "The squad will cater for talented young players who have not yet reached the age to be able to play senior football. It will provide a great chance for them to develop by facing players of the same age bracket from across the country."

KERRY Chawko fired an awesome foursome as Deeping Diamonds continued their march towards the Fenland Under 11 League title.

The 6-1 success ensured the Deeping girls completed a clean sweep of four victories in their clashes with Wyberton Wildcats this season.

Amie Ford hit their other goals while Yasmin Green swapped her usual scoring duties for several assists.

Deeping: Rebecca Warr, Chloe Moscatiello, Kiera McHattie, Sophie Langan, Amie Ford, Kerry Chawko, Yasmin Green, Shelby Culff, Emily Sheppard.

JESSICA Evans stole the show as Netherton Under 17s roared to another win.

The hot-shot smashed all the goals as the city side breezed past March 4-0 in the Fenland League.

Netherton are on the lookout for players to fill a couple of places in their squad. Anyone interested should contact either Mitch or John on 01733 262064.
