U11: Powerleague 2, Oundle 2 - Power point is a fair reward

Under 11 - Division Two:POWERLEAGUE picked up their first point of the season after a wet and wild clash with high-flying Oundle.
At a rain-lashed Stanground College Keith Denham's side took full advantage of only their second league game of the season to haul themselves off the foot of the table thanks to equalising goals from Braden Denham and Liam Winters.
And while in such conditions this was never going to be a classic encounter, both teams deserve full credit for playing at all – such was the ferocity of the wind and rain which tore across the pitch throughout the game.
But play on they did and despite the awful weather, somehow managed to produce a cracking game of football.
Powerleague manager Denham said: "This was a really tough game for both sets of players who did well just to play let alone produce such committed performances. They were a credit to both clubs.
"For us it was all about getting some points on the board as we have been in cup action for the past couple of weeks and are now playing catch-up in the league.
"We knew Oundle would be a good team as they have started very well so to get a point against them is a really good result.
"It has been tough for us this season as the boys have had a lot to take on board, especially with the offside rule which we play to now.
"But all things considered they are doing really well and learning all the time which is great.
"The whole team battled well on Sunday and I thought Aidan Steel was particularly impressive.
"Hopefully we can now build on this and push on and get some more good results over the next few weeks."
Having held the lead twice through strikes from Duncan Croker and James Adams, third-placed Oundle could be forgiven for feeling a little hard done by at not taking maximum points.
But according to boss Daniel Hanna, a draw was a fair result.
He said: "It was a really tough game for us. Powerleague fought all the way and nicked an equaliser four minutes from time which I would say they just about deserved.
"We have started so well this season, I am delighted with the boys. I don't think they expected to be third in the league at any stage so they have not only surprised themselves but me and everyone else as well."
