DEEPING Blue pulled off what will surely go down as one of the comebacks of the season in a real Red Zone cracker at the Grange on Saturday.

Despite finding themselves three down to the Netherton Falcons with less than 10 minutes to go, Rangers so
mehow managed to overturn the deficit and secure all three points, 4-3.

They conceded a sloppy own goal early in the first half and Netherton's George Smith then struck twice to make it 3-0, and there seemed no way back for Tim Barnes' young Deeping side.

But with 10 minutes left on the clock Deeping top scorer Joe Hussey gave his side hope with a fine individual goal.

Minutes later Ryan Cotterell gave Deeping a real chance of a point and his second of the match then restored parity.

Having levelled the scores in such dramatic fashion, however, Deeping were clearly in no mood to leave it there and with just four minutes to go midfielder Jamie Scott secured a dramatic win with a fierce shot from the edge of the area.

Barnes said: "We really came back from the dead and their players looked crushed at the end.

"When the final whistle sounded, the looks on the faces of everyone associated with the team said it all.

"It was an unbelievable comeback from our team and the boys didn't let their heads drop and battled to the end to extend their winning run.

"It was an outstanding performance from everyone to maintain our 100 per cent start to the season."

BOURNE Claret continued their impressive start to the Red Zone season with a 5-3 win away to Thorney Colts.

A hat-trick for Jack Dodd and two goals for Liam Harper saw the young Wakes secure their fourth win from as many games but boss David Dodd knows the going is about to get a lot tougher.

"We played okay up front against Thorney but poor defending meant it was a bit tighter than I would have liked," he said.

"We have Netherton, Deeping and Hampton in our next three games and we will definitely have to improve at the back against those teams.

"Those three sides will be up there for the title, as we want to be, so good performances against them are vital.

NEW Blackstones' boss Raf Mazzarella is delighted with his side's progress after watching them beat Deeping Claret 3-1.

Two goals for Reece Darby and one for Scott Waumsley wrapped up the points for Stones' who now sit third in the Blue Zone table.

Mazzarella said: "I came here at the tail end of last season and I have been delighted with the way the boys have developed and I hope to see that continue."
