IT may be one of the oldest cliches in the book but for Sawtry the phrase 'it ain't over until the fat lady sings' was spot on against Wisbech St Mary.
Needing to beat the Division Two champions to secure promotion to the top flight this season,
a late Jimmy Mallett goal with just three minutes remaining put Sawtry in dreamland.
And not only did Kevin Conneely's side secure their promotion in dramatic style after coming back from two goals down with goals from Jack Mace and Dan Burton, they also became the first team to beat Wisbech in the league for more than four years.
Conneely said: "I thought we played great to get back into the game and deserved the victory - they may not agree with me but that's the way I saw it.
"We had a really bad spell around November time but we have been unbeaten since then and this result shows what good form we are in.
"The lads were delighted to beat Wisbech as they are such a good side and I know they wanted to end their record but the big thing is that we have won promotion.
"I think if we keep going next season like we have ended this one we will be fine in Division One and should comfortably make a mid table finish."
Ryan Brazil and Luke Whyatt score the Saints two goals.
Sawtry's promotion squad: Daniel Burton, Liam Alexander, Jordan Conneely, Tom Cooke, James Dinsdale, Lewis Flowers, Daniel Godward, Marley Liverpool, Jack Mallett, Jimmy Mallett, Ryan McCurdy, Michael McEachern, Charlie Nelson and Jack Mace.
