POWERLEAGUE put a serious dent in the title hopes of Blue Zone rivals Riverside Rovers Blue with a 4-0 win at Nene Valley School on Saturday.

Two each for Claudio Ofosu and Ryan Pickstone sealed a win as Powerleague emerged victorious from this se
cond versus third clash.

The three points leave Duane Baker's side just two points behind leaders Werrington with a game in hand as they chase back-to-back title triumphs having claimed this crown in the Under 9 age group.

But despite their resurgence since being beaten by Werrington three weeks ago, Baker is well aware that there are plenty of twists and turns to come.

He said: "We came into this season a little bit laid back. Because we won it last time, the boys were thinking they just needed to turn up to do it again.

"But the loss to Werrington really set them straight on that point and since then they have been much better and have been giving it everything in every game."

IN the same zone four goals for Reuben Eyles and one for James Ferris kept Werrington's noses in front with a 5-1 win against Thorney.

RED Zone leaders Baston extended their lead to six points with a 3-1 win at Spalding thanks to a 25-yard thunderbolt from Sam Malton and goals for Dan Rayner and Alfie Hick.

Assistant manager Andy Malton said: "We are going well and are now six points clear but there is still a long way to go with Glinton going well in second place.

"Consistency is going to be the key for the rest of the season and of course when we make the step up to the 11-a-side game."
