IT was the purple half of Wisbech St Mary who were celebrating on Sunday night after Miller's men won the Fenland derby.

Taking on newly-promoted Wisbech St Mary Yellow for the first time ever in Division One combat, last season's League Cup winne
r's proved just to good for Steve Brown's battlers.

The 6-2 win for Mark Miller's table-topping side side was secured with goals from Tom Westerman (2), Daniel Symonds (2), Lester Gratton and former Posh Academy player Johnny Hipwell.

And while Yellows did try to respond to being 3-0 down after the break with goals from Luke Green and Aidan Payne, the result was never in doubt as the Purples maintained total control.

Miller said: "Obviously it was a nice little derby for both sides but in all truth it was pretty one-sided on the day and we could have hit double figures.

"But Yellows never stopped battling which is a credit to them and I am sure they will do okay in this division. For us it is now two wins from two so it is early days but I am pleased with the way we are playing.

"It would be great to win the title this season after being pipped at the post last time by Deeping. We play them next week which is now a massive game for us as it is important to gain an early advantage in what I am sure will turn out to be another tight title race."
