NENE Valley Lions roared back from the agony of last weekend's League Cup final loss with a 4-2 win against Woodston Reds.

After the agony of losing out on penalties to clubmates the Tigers in the final, the Lions had spent the week licking their wounds after the surprise showpiece defeat.

But having already been crowned champions of the White Zone, Phil Stewart's side were never going to be down in the dumps for long and bounced back in the only way they know how – with another win.

And with Prentice Speechley, Alex Slater, Johny Crier and skipper William Coulson all on target, the Lions have now fired a staggering 99 goals in the league this season.

So with one game left to go, Stewart has urged his players to see if they can break the magical 100 goals barrier.

He said: "We were gutted to lose the final and the lads have been really down all week.

"Our job at the weekend was to pick them up so we could end the season in the style that champions really should.

"Woodston are a decent side and they put us under pressure but we showed great heart to come back from two down to win the match in good style.

"Now we want to hit 100 for the season but we only have one game left to do it and that is against Glinton – the only team to have beaten us all season. It should be a great game of football and hopefully we can put on a performance worthy of league champions."

The only other game in the age group saw Boston beat Glinton 4-0 for their third win of the season.
