YAXLEY 10 DEACONIANS 0 (Under 10 White Zone)
YAXLEY may only have needed a draw to be crowned league champions but why do things by half?

Rather than play cagey for the point they needed to take the White Zone title, Gary Warman's side went in the opposite direction by lashing 10 goals past
struggling Deaconians to get the job done in emphatic style.

Hat-tricks for Robert Rouse and Daniel Grieves plus a four-goal haul for Ben Symonds should also mean that the young Cuckoos are flying towards a Division One spot for their first crack at 11-a-side football next season.

Warman said: "We did what we had to do against Deaconians and the boys pulled out another cracking team display.

"Overall I am delighted with them all and the effort they have shown throughout the season, not just in the games but on the training pitch as well.

"They are all so keen to learn and take on board anything new we tell them and try to use it in a game which is what it is all about.

"And their efforts have been rewarded with this title win which they have achieved playing the game the right way.

"But we face a big challenge next season as we go up to 11-a-side as well as being placed in the top flight.

"So not only will we have to get used to playing with almost double the amount of players on the pitch, we will also have to get used to playing teams of a higher quality week in week out. But we are really looking forward to the challenge and hope to do well."

And while Yaxley will be going up in the world, Deaconians will be heading in the other direction.

Having lost a number of players this season, Tony Garrish's side have finished rock bottom after winning just two games all season, but according to the boss that still represents progress.

Garrish said: "Last year we didn't win a game so we have improved in that regard but we have definitely struggled this season.

"I even had to stick one of my outfield players in goal which was a real baptism of fire for the lad but he did really well.

"Next season we will be in a league better suited to the level we are at right now which will give us a chance to build our confidence and improve our football."
