NETHERTON B restored club pride with a 4-1 win against Stamford in Division One.
Last week the Daniels knocked the other Netherton side out of the League Cup, but seven days later it was the Lincolnshire lads left reeling.
And if this wasn't qu
ite as pulsating a match as Stamford's 5-4 cup thriller at The Grange, goals for Josh Moreman, Aiden Stanford, Dominic Jones and Ben Cullen ensured revenge was sweet.
For Marco De Cotis' side this was only their second league game of a season which has so far seen them engaged in cup action more often than not.
Wins in the PFA Cup, Northants County Cup and the League Cup have kept Netherton away from bread and butter league action so it was a treat for the city side to get their first win on the board.
De Cotis said: "Because of all these cup games we are at the foot of the table but I am sure we will get climbing as soon as we get a few more games under our belts.
"Obviously Stamford came here and beat Netherton A in a cup thriller last weekend so it was good to restore a bit of pride and while this was nowhere near as exciting as that game, there was some excellent football from both sides.
"I think the league is going to be very exciting this season and while I think Deeping A will be favourites after they strengthened in the summer, any of four or five teams can win it, including us.
"Unfortunately I cannot see our league fixture backlog getting much better as we are in the cup next week again and the week after that everyone else is in the cup. But as long as we can get the games in somewhere I expect us to do well."
DEEPING set up a mouthwatering domestic top-of-the-table tussle by nicking a point after a controversial 2-2 home draw with Sawtry.
The point puts Rob Jerram's side on seven points, the same as Deeping B with the two teams due to play one another this weekend in what is sure to be a feisty encounter at Outgang Road.
But they could well have been going into the big match a point behind their stablemates had it not been for some dubious refereeing on Sunday.
Two goals down inside 20 minutes, Deeping A looked in serious trouble when keeper Max Flintoft fumbled a cross which appeared to go over the line.
The linesman's flag stayed down, however, and the home side were able to pull one back when Josh Bell volleyed his fourth of the season before controversy reared it's head once more.
As half-time approached Flintoft appeared to commit a foul inside his area, but much to the dismay of the Sawtry players, again the referee played on and Deeping survived.
Having ridden their luck, Deeping were much better after the break and when Aidan Finn crossed for Max Webb the striker made no mistake to head home the equaliser.
