ADVENTUROUS Scouts in the Peterborough area joined hundreds of youngsters from across the region for a two-day camp.
More than 250 boys and girls aged between 10 and 14 gathered at the Wood Green Animal Shelter, in Godmanchester, near Huntingdon, for the first outdoor event of the new Scouting year.
They were given the opportunity to take part in a range of exciting activities including archery, canoeing, climbing, abseiling and shooting.
But there were also opportunities to get involved with go-karts, human table football and bungee running.
By sunset, the event took on a party atmosphere with discos, karaoke and other entertainment.
County Scout Section Commissioner Arthur Towler said: "The weekend was a fantastic success.
"County Camp is a real challenge but it isn't just about activities for their own sake. We encourage Scouts to try something new, feel the buzz of the achievement and then reflect on what that means."
He added: "One of the best things about being a Scout on a camping weekend is getting to stay up late with your friends and being outside all the time without getting told to come in by your mum."
Mr Towler said the camp would not have been possible without the support of the 1,000 adult volunteers who give up their time every day of the week to ensure more than 5,000 young people can pursue their love of Scouting across the county.
He added: "We estimate that during this weekend alone, adults will have given up more than 4,000 hours of their free time to enable the camp to go ahead."
