HEAD coach Colin Patterson will not let the English Premier League's (EPL) early surprise packages explode in the face of his flying Phantoms tonight.
Patterson takes his side to face perennial strugglers Wightlink Raiders, but the Canadian knows collecting two points will be a seriously tall order.

Despite finishing bottom of the EPL last term, the rejuvenated Raiders pulled off a major shock by beating title contenders Guildford Flames last weekend.

So if the trip to the Isle of Wight can be daunting at the best of times, with the home side in such good early form Patterson knows his Phantoms must give their best from first buzzer to last to stand a chance of emerging victorious.

He said: "Wightlink have proved what a dangerous side they can be anywhere by beating the Flames. Other than Andy Munroe we are up to full strength with no serious injuries to speak of and that is important

"At their own place it will be even tougher but we can cope and I expect the guys to be raring to go this weekend, giving it 100 per cent in both games.

"We know Wightlink have improved and we will be going there with plenty of respect but if we play to our highest level we can get a result."

The trip south is followed by a home clash against reigning play-off champions Slough Jets at the Peterborough Arena tomorrow (5.30pm face-off). Phantoms drew in Berkshire last weekend before going down on penalties in overtime.

Patterson added: "Slough are also an excellent team home or away and they can beat us if we do not give it everything we have for the full 60 minutes.

"Steve Moria has them playing some really good hockey and it should be an excellent game for our fans to enjoy and hopefully celebrate a win."
