PETERBOROGUGH Islanders ice hockey team have secured the services of inspirational coach Jesse Hammill for the coming season.
City legend Hammill led the team to their most successful campaign ever by securing the English National League Southern Championship after reaching the play-off finals for the first time.

Now with the tenacious Canadian and former Pirate back at the helm, the club is confident of continuing on the trophy trail next season.

General manager Gary Coomes said: "Hammill has been instrumental in the Islanders' success over the last two seasons and both our players and supporters know Jesse drives the team forward using skill, experience, his own personal commitment and enthusiasm."

And the news of his re-appointment gives Hammill the perfect chance to continue the programme of improvements he has bought to the Islanders set-up in his two seasons at the helm.

"I feel that we still have unfinished business in the ENIHL," said Hammill. "I want to continue what we started two seasons ago. We are planning a programme of development for our current squad players together with the addition of some exciting new names."
