PETERBOROUGH Phantoms Under 18s certainly filled their skates on the first day of the season with a 20-0 destruction against the Romford Buccaneers.
However the most remarkable thing about Saturday's massively one-sided result at the Peterborough Arena wasn't the scoreline but the fact that every player on the home team scored at least one point apiece - even the netminder!
Rather than just be
ing content with shutting out their visitors for the first two periods, young backstopper Damien King also managed to get in on the act too by setting up one of the goals.
Coach Steve Maile said: "This was a great start to our season.
"We were short of players so had to rotate the lines which wasn't ideal but Romford were also short of players and I knew our players were fitter and stronger so we went out from the star of the game at top speed.
"For the first game of the season I was over the moon on how well the team was moving the puck and taking advantage of the scoring opportunities we had.
"Overall an excellent start for the team and the goal difference could be helpful at the end of the season.
"It was a tough game in which to stay motivated but I couldn't find fault with any of my players at the end."
