WISBECH and Bourne provided the winners at the City of Peterborough Festival Sevens at Bretton Gate over the weekend.
Wisbech won the men's competition and the Rebels from Bourne took the honours in the mixed event. Wisbech also provided the runners-up in the mixed tournament in the guise of The Wizards.

Wisbech romped to a 4-1 win over Ragamuffins in the final of the men's event. The winners fielded a powerful line-up based around their successful East Premier B Division title winning side.

Matt Levander, Joe Melton, Dan Martell and Sam Blunt scored the goals with Mike Yeoman replying for Ragamuffins. Blunt (2), Martell and David Brodie scored the goals in a 4-0 semi-final rout of Bourne.

Ragamuffins were put under pressure by Beavers in their semi-final before England squad member Gareth Andrew roused himself.

He scored twice to force a 3-3 draw with Ragamuffins winning the subsequent penalty shoot-out, but Andrew did not appear in the final.

The mixed final was a much closer affair which was finally edged by Rebels 2-1 thanks to goals from Brendan Sullivan and Andrew Fletcher. Levander netted for Wizards, thus claiming a goal in both finals over the weekend.

Surprise qualifiers Blue Green Zeds and Tornadoes were the losing semi-finalists. Rebels crushed Tornadoes 7-1 with Brendan Sullivan netting five times.

The festival, which is in its 26th year, used to be organised by the Peterborough Athletic club.
