MARKET Deeping are just six points away from the East Division Three North West title after recording a 16th win in 18 games at the weekend.
Deeping swept away March seconds by an 8-1 margin thanks to goals from Paul Tancred (2), Ali Rowledge (2), Henry Winsfield-Chislett, James Sharp, Peter Jeffrey and Andy Brassington.

The local side have now smashed an amazing 124 goals at an average of just under seven a match and can expect to join their ladies side in celebrating a league title in the next couple of weeks.

Deeping's fairer sex clinched the Cambs Division One crown with a hard fought 3-2 win at third-placed Saffron Walden. Janet Eagle-Smith, Sarah Smith and Kirsten Hackett scored for the champions.

Bourne seconds won for just the second time in East Division Two North thanks to goals from Jenny Jackson and Lou Parker.

But City of Peterborough Ladies' faint hopes of promotion from East Division One North disappeared with a 5-0 home defeat by Lowestoft and the city side's men's second team have fallen behind local rivals Wisbech in the race for the East Premier B Division title.

City were beaten 3-2 at home by a resolute and well-organised Long Sutton side. Sutton's for City star Gary Hales converted a penalty stroke to add to goals from Ben Smith and Ash Taylor.

That result enabled Wisbech to race back to the top on goal difference following a highly impressive 6-0 win at West Herts. Sam Markillie claimed four goals with Joe Melton and Luke Smith completing the scoring.

City's third team are also faltering in the run-in as a 3-2 reverse at Ipswich & East Suffolk virtually ruined their promotion bid from Division Two North.

City sixths remain second in Division Five North West after beating Newmarket 3-1 with goals from Marcus Howard, Graham Finding and Aaron Nicholls.

Ross Ambler bagged a hat-trick as March fifths maintained their promotion push in Division Seven North West and Glenn Perkins hit three goals as Spalding seconds beat Cambridge City fifths 5-3 in Division Four North West.
