CITY of Peterborough celebrated their first win of the National East Conference season after despatching Chelmsford with considerable ease at Bretton Gate on Saturday.
Ironically City failed to reach the standards of their opening two Conference performances, but the visitors were still brushed aside in fine style.
City passed the ball fluently and found regular gaps in the Chelmsford defence, but it took a drag
flick by Scott Beach from a short corner to open the scoring midway through the first-half.
Striker Danny Needham caused problems with his direct running style, while Joe Finding continued his fine form in the middle of the park by skipping past opponents whenever he was in possession.
Scott Gilmour delivered a precise finish from an acute angle to make it 2-0 soon after the re-start and Finding's third goal in three games sealed the points.
Finding took advantage of a goal-keeping misjudgement, but it was a fine team move that led to Will Collins adding a fourth goal towards the end.
Collins had only previously scored four goals in his career and this was his first at National League level.
City dominated throughout, but did give up scoring chances to Chelmsford who found keepers James Richardson and Giles Cadman in outstanding form.
Richardson played for the first hour before making way for Cadman. City's biggest problem at Sevenoaks next week may revolve around the keeping position as both are top quality performers.
