THORPE Wood is a golf course capable of attracting players from right across the country - and that was certainly the case for their Men's Open.
The event was held on Sunday and once again players from a variety of different clubs made the trip to take part.
While all the local clubs were represented, the award for most travelled competitor surely must go to Stuart McNich of Enniscrone Gol
f Club on the West coast of Ireland.
McNich even got among the prizes by claiming the nearest-the-pin award at the third hole, but it was Burghley Park's Jason Frankum and Thorpe Wood star Jamie Wilson who made the greatest impression.
Frankum shot a sizzling one over par 74 to take first place in the gross competition while Wilson had to settle for the runners-up slot two shots further back.
In the handicap section there was success for the home club with Simon Vernon taking the honours by one shot from Greetham Valley member Oliver Hayward.
Club secretary Ray Palmer said: "As per usual the Open attracted players from all over the place but I don't think we have had anyone from Ireland before.
"We all had a great time, the weather was wonderful and the course was in excellent condition, as always."

THE subject of conversation briefly changed from golf to football at Greetham Valley last week.
At the club's Carlsberg Invitational on Wednesday, two-time European Cup winner and former Forest skipper John McGovern treated guests to a run down of his career highlights at the close of play.
