THORNEY Lakes pair Mark Goulding and Mark Templeman have taken their first steps towards claiming the PGA National Pro-Am Championship.
Club amateur Goulding will pair up with professional Templeman after winning the club's qualifying tournament last weekend with a net 68.

He and Templeman will now progress to the next round of betterball medal play at King's Lynn Golf Club on May 14 for the Regional Finals.

The winners of all 16 of regional events will then receive an all expenses paid trip to the PGA Sultan course at Antalya Golf Club in Turkey for the Grand Final and a chance to win £5,000.

Templeman and Goulding will be joined at King's Lynn by Tydd St Giles professional Ashley Howard and amateur partner Gino Cluffini who won their qualifying event with a net score of 72.

The PGA Nationals are the biggest pro-am competition in Europe and has an overall prize fund of £30,000.

JULIE Bevan and John Lausen have won the Bader Cup Qualifier at Thorney Lakes Golf Club.

After shooting a decent score of 43 points in difficult conditions, the pair have won the right to go on and represent the club at the Regional Finals due to be held at Ely Golf Club in the summer.
