Last night (July 21) Peterborough's hardest working teachers and most talented pupils gathered at The Key Theatre for The ET's Education Awards.
The awards were presented by Michael Cross, Artistic Director at The Key Theatre.

Our sponsors very kindly gave each winner £500 and a trophy.

The awards:
Outstanding Teacher of the Year, Sponsored by Peterborough
City Council:

Winner: Tom Martin is a teacher of maths at Orton Longueville School.
Highly commended: Lynne Webb is head of mathematics at Arthur Mellows Village College, and Sally Nash, from Arthur Mellows Village College.

Arts Award, Sponsored by Perkins:
Winner: Matthew Woodcock, of Orton Longueville School.
Highly commended: Ella Benning, a Year 11 Bushfields Community College and Katrina Hartley of St John Fisher.

Support Staff Award, Sponsored by The Evening Telegraph:
Winner: Mrs Chris Henderson from Orton Longueville School.
Highly commended: Amanda Cawthorne, PE technician from Bushfield Community College and Chris Parker who also works at Bushfield Community College as a technician in the media department.

Support for Pupils with Special Needs, Sponsored by the Key Theatre:
Winner: Sarah Moss and Martin Bramley from Hampton Hargate Primary School for the work they do to help Ricky Taylor – who has mild cerebral palsy and autism.
Highly commended: Ms Bowers and class 2P from Linchfield Primary School for the fantastic support they give to their classmate Lily, who has Goldenhar's Syndrome.
Wendy Seaford from Park Lane Primary School was also highly commended.

Environment Award, Sponsored by Anglia Coop:
Winner: Jean Asher, St Augustine's Church of England's Primary School's Eco schools co-ordinator.
Highly commended: Abbotsmede School and Jack Hunt School's sustainability co-ordinator, Alexandra Ford.

Best Pupil aged four to 10, Sponsored by The Royal Mail:
Winner: Chloe Rayment from Middleton Primary School is so talented she was moved up a school year in January instead of September.

Best Pupil Aged 11 to 16, Sponsored by Serpentine Green Shopping Centre:
Winner: William Cook from St John Fisher School.
Highly commended: Kimberly Bond from Orton Longueville School and Arthur Mellows Village College's Tom Fox.

Design and Technology Award, Sponsored by Peterborough Renewable Energy Ltd:
Winner: Joshua Willey, a Year 11 pupil who has produced stunning
pieces of architectural work.
Highly commended: Thomas Deacon Academy pupil Xavier Gibbons and Chris Greenacre, a Year 10 pupil at Arthur Mellows Village College.

Sporting Achievement Award, Sponsored by Mars Petcare UK:
Winner: Thomas Li, a Year 8 pupil at the Thomas Deacon Academy.
Highly commended: St John Fisher's Gemma Titchmarsh and Jake Berney, who is in Year 7 at Hampton College.
