We take a peek into the lives of some of the great and the good associated with our fair city, and find out about the music, films and books that have captured their imaginations: Stace, drummer with Peterborough rockers The Scene is Dead. Also performs solo gigs as Staceman.
Is there a film star/pop star/rock star/artist/writer you admire? And why...
I admire anyone who does film, music, or writing. Basically, people who do things from the heart and not for money or fame.
Is there a TV programme you couldn't live without?
There is only one program I can't live without and that's Smallville. I'm a big Superman fan.
Do you remember the first record you bought – what was it, and where did you buy it?
Hmm, my first record I actually bought, not listened to, was Killers, by Iron Maiden. I bought it from Andy's Records, which used to be in the city centre.
Tell us about a recent discovery in music, film, etc...something you've seen or heard recently that you would recommend...
I would have to be honest, there is nothing of late that I have seen or heard film or music wise. There is lots of great live music about in Peterborough, though.
Tell us about any guilty pleasures lurking in your CD or film collections – something you know is a bit naff but you can't help yourself.
It would be the film soundtrack to Top Gun. I've had the CD for years and still play it.
Favourite film...and why?
That would have to be Aliens. The reason I like the Alien films is because back when they were done they used real mock-ups of creatures. Now it is all computer animated, which I hate. It was a lot more creepy watching films made like this back then.
Favourite album...and why?
It would have to be Master Of Puppets by Metallica. When I first heard that when I was younger it changed my whole view on music.
Favourite book...and why?
I like reading biographies. The Sharon Osbourne books about her life were superb.
Is there a song or individual piece of music you always come back to?
Dragon Attack by Queen. That song still blows me away. It's all about the driving bass line.
What are you reading at the moment?
Nothing at present to be honest, probably the Sharon Osbourne one was the last.
Tell me about a live music experience that sticks in your memory...
The CAMRA Peterborough Beer Festival, when I played last year. It was just absolutely blinding. The whole place was full and the atmosphere was amazing. One of my favourite ever moments.
And what are you up to this weekend?
Well I played the Solstice this week, but I have no gigs lined up for the weekend. The next one is in Norwich on October 24.
