It annually attracts thousands of visitors of all ages for walks, concerts and teas.
In December last year the park was declared the runaway winner in the Government's Pride of Place poll. Residents were asked to vote which area they treasured m
ost in the city and Central Park scooped 55.7 per cent of the votes.
It was awarded the prestigious Green Flag, which recognises the national standard for quality parks and green spaces, for the fifth consecutive year in July 2007. It was one of only 21 parks in the East of England to received the award last year and was the first in Cambridgeshire to receive it.
The award recognises aspects such as the local community's involvement and the safety and maintenance of the facility to make it a welcoming place to visit. It has just been inspected for the Green Flag award again this year.
