THE Mediaeval Baebes will perform a dazzling concert at Ely Cathedral as part of a nine-date nationwide UK tour on 5 December.
The tour follows two months in Europe and the US for the Baebes, which included appearances at The Mystic Fair in The Netherlands and The Maryland Renaissance Festival in the US.

The concert at Ely Cathedral will be of particular significance to The Mediaeval Baebes, as their song, Myrie Songen, references the monks of Ely.

It takes place on Friday, 5 December, at 7.30pm.

Katharine Blake, from the Mediaeval Baebes, said: "We are all delighted to return to Ely Cathedral. Having performed previously in the Lady Chapel, we are thrilled to be performing in the actual Cathedral next month.

"It is a beautiful and inspiring venue for all of us and we look forward to showcasing some of our new material."

Director of music at Ely Cathedral, Paul Trepte, said: "This may not be as traditional for the Cathedral as usual but we are aiming to offer a more diverse and entertaining musical program at Ely."

Formed in 1996, The Mediaeval Baebes create their unique sound by drawing inspiration from medieval texts and setting this to original scores with the use of both classical and medieval musical instruments, while singing in an array of long forgotten languages.

Tickets cost £17.50 from 01353 660349.
