Greater Dogsthorpe is in the running for a top environmental award.
The area has been shortlisted for the Urban Regeneration category of Anglia in Bloom, which encourages people to think green and take pride in their neighbourhood. The category concentrates on achieving long-term improvements for the environment and encouraging community involvement.

The area was put forward by the Greater Dogsthorpe Partnership (GDP).

Much of the improvements have been made with the help of the Greater Dogsthorpe Environmental Forum, which is made up of people living in the area and service providers who work to make green improvements.

Judges toured the neighbourhood, which included a look round Dogsthorpe Junior School's outdoor classroom and allotment area, Fulbridge recreation ground, Sycamore park, Bluebell wildlife meadow and Woodfield Park.

Neighbourhood director for the GDP Graeme Clark said: "I hope everyone's efforts will be justly rewarded."
