The festival is a continuation of the 2006 event, and takes place in fields near Farcet Fen, Peterborough from September 5 to September 7.

Organised by Peterborough's Muddy Promotions team, the Grassroots Festival will showcase the best in acoustic, live and electronic music.

It also aims to cater for families, and there will be a number of activity areas and good-spirited entertainment to keep mums, dads and youngsters happy.

The Grasshopper Kids Area has face painting, balloon making, arts, crafts and juggling workshops.

One of the organisers, Gavin "Chopper" Wood said: "Grassroots Festival 2008 is a continuation of our 2006 festival. Grass Roots was and is the opportunity to come together as a community to provide the best three days of collective music and art that Peterborough has ever seen.

"This is a true delight for this city, and indeed holds open arms to anyone who would like to get involved with this and future events from Muddy Promotions.

"A massive thank you for everybody's input, no matter how big or small, for making this special event happen. This shows you really can, and continue to, make a positive change. We look forward to seeing you there."

Familiar acts playing the festival include Lazy Habits, Joe Driscoll, Opaque and Point 7 Pistol.

Also appearing over the weekend is Vince Freeman and Belgium's Soy Un Caballo, who has just recorded an album with Bonnie "Prince" Billy.

The cabaret, theatre and spoken word tent features Attila the Stockbroker, a man who is revered by many a punk and poetry fan, and has been causing a stir for some time to great acclaim.

Dance fans can look forward to DJ Jim Masters who as one of the founders of Ministry of Sound, ran club nights for seven years with Carl Cox.
