Published Date: 19 November 2008
12 noon: Veteran broadcaster John Sergeant's controversial stay in Strictly Come Dancing appears to be over.
The BBC has reported today that Sergeant - who has repeatedly been saved by votes from the public despite poor marks from the judges - has pulled out of the hit Saturday night show.

Was he right to go? Should he have left it to the public to decide once more who stays and who goes? Comment below.

No, he should have stayed. The judges have absolutely no right to ridicule and slander him so viciously. The judges only want to see sexually charged acts (perhaps they get off on that ) and not straight forward, decent dancing. John Sergeant should have stayed on and won, like we all wanted him to, just to shame these arrogant judges.

I had never seen strictly until this morning on the news and what I saw was a less than talented has been plodding across a plowed field.
And the singer who was taken off was just about has good as a drunken pub singer.

Based on what's right and fair, he should have stayed. He has as much right as anyone to be there, more so as the public want him to stay. He's putting in the hours, the effort (as much as he can) and the humour. We don't always want perfect to win, we want the guy/girl who shows determination - John has this in spades.

Shame. Oh, I can't stand it by the way, never watch it, but what's right is right.
