PETERBOROUGH'S Westwood Musical Society is looking for a new social secretary ahead of its next show.
The group is also looking for suggestions for a new name, to make it more marketable and in keeping as one of the leading musical groups in the city.
The next show is George Gershwin’s Crazy For You, at Peterborough’s Key Theatre next March.
It is the story of Bobby Child, a well to do ’30s playboy, whose main dream in life is to dance.
And despite the serious efforts of his mother and soon-to-be ex-fiancée, Bobby achieves his dream.
Memorable Gershwin tunes include I Can’t Be Bothered Now, Bidin’ My Time, I Got Rhythm, Naughty Baby, They Can’t Take That Away From Me, But Not For Me, Nice Work If You Can Get It, Embraceable You, and Someone to Watch Over Me.
It’s a high energy comedy which includes mistaken identity, plot twists, fabulous dance numbers and classic Gershwin music.
The society would like Guide readers to suggest a new name for the society.
If your suggestion is endorsed as the new name, then you will win the prize of two tickets to see Crazy For You.
It is planned to publicise the new name for the society in the Crazy For You programme, and it would feature for the first time in the 2010 show.
And a new society secretary will be required to take notes at committee meetings and carry out various administrative duties which are essential to keep the society running smoothly.
New name suggestions, and expression of interest in the post of secretary, should be sent to chairman Steve Gravitt by e-mailing stevepg@ hotmail.co.uk or by calling 01733 755543.
