IN THE 50th anniversary year of Blue Peter, former presenter and actor Peter Duncan begins a tour of the UK offering audiences an inside view of his life in the spotlight.
Billed as a "modern variety show" suitable for all the family, his biographical journey includes video clips, as well as an opportunity for a lucky member of the audience to get up on stage to audition as a Blue Peter presenter.
The show will be coming to The Broadway Theatre, Peterborough, on Tuesday, October 14, at 7.30pm.
Loosely spanning his 40-year career on stage, television and film, the show offers a rare insight into the backroom workings of British showbusiness, and documents Peter's first media appearances (baby modelling knit-wear catalogues and a crawl-on part in the movie Reluctant Bride) to his decision to turn down the Blue Peter job to follow John Noakes (he accepted later on).
There are plenty of stunts, anecdotes and jolly musical numbers from his time as an actor and panto legend, encompassing stage appearances as Charlie Chaplin (when he starred in the musical Little Tramp), Peter Pan and Captain Hook, Equus (but not naked this time), Funny Peculiar, The Card and the cult film Flash Gordon.
Now 54, Peter invites the audience to join in the many adventures that have brought him to our screens, from the Big Race Overland to America and The Games for Channel 4, his Duncan family backpacking travels around the world (including China) for Channel Five, his eponymous series Duncan Dares for the BBC, and most recently his scouting expedition up Mount Everest.
See this man walk a tightrope (literally) between comedy and the custard pies of life.
