THREE of Peterborough's most popular bands have joined together for a gig which supports new, talented artists in the city.
The Hereward FM Kids Live show is at The Met Lounge tonight, and The Brays, Angryman and A Girl Called Kate are all on the bill.

It’s part of the city radio station’s new feature Live and Local, which is aiming to promote the thriving Peterboroug
h music scene.

Candice Lott, who produces the Live and Local section, said: “It’s about supporting young, talented artists in our city. We aim to keep building Live and Local to create a good launch pad for local artists.”

Doors are opening at 8pm, with tickets costing £5, all of which is going towards the newly set-up children’s charity, Hereward FM Kids.

The event is open to people aged 14 and over, but all under-16s must be accompanied by an adult.

Youngest of the bunch is A Girl Called Kate, a five-piece who have played on the regional circuit for 18 months.

They were the winner of this summer’s Met Lounge Battle of the Bands competition, and are also playing this weekend’s In The City new music showcase in Manchester.

They have an electronic tinge to their guitar rock, and have supported The Subways, Operator Please and Does It Offend You, Yeah?.

Perhaps the most familiar name on the bill is The Brays, who came close to scoring a chart hit with their last single, Sin, last month.

They self-financed a £10,000 promo video for the single, seeking out sponsorship from Peterborough businesses and supporters.

Later this month they headline The Cresset venue in Bretton, so tonight is the perfect opportunity to catch the indie-rockers on a small stage.

Making up the trio is Angryman, a band who played at this year’s CAMRA sponsored Peterborough Beer Festival.

Candice said “Angryman are a group of musicians with high energy, passion and sensitivity. When we first heard them it was a jaw-dropping moment”.
