Reaction from local election night, May 2nd 2008:
"I'm delighted. I will be looking forward to talking to people to see how the Community Leadership fund can be used to the best of our advantage to better our ward.
I'll be meeting people across the ward and understanding their concerns and issues.
"
David Seaton, representing the Orton with Hampton Ward.

"It is a relief to know that the people of Werrington have put their faith in me again. It has been a pretty tense evening, especially with the Tories winning extra seats."
John Fox, Werrington North Ward.

"I am disappointed, but sadly that's the way it goes. Some we win and some we lose but we will be back with a vengeance next year."
Shaukat Ali, who lost the Conservative seat in Central Ward.

"I am very pleased that we have increased the number of seats.
The results just show how the public are showing their support for what I think is the excellent stewardship of the candidates who are developing our services and lowering council tax.
They also show a rejection of the Labour Government, which shows they are incompetent and failing."
MP for Peterborough, Stewart Jackson.

"It was a good set of results for the Conservatives. As for my area, we held all of our seats and there were one or two which we had to fight hard for.
The results are giving a strong message from the public to say that they are happy with what the Conservatives are doing as well as an element of frustration of the national Government.
Good victories for the Conservatives."
MP for North West Cambridgeshire Shailesh Vara.

"I am absolutely elated.
My plans for the ward most importantly include keeping the two villages as they are. Villages should be villages."
Raymond Dobbs, who took the Eye and Thorney seat from an Independent councillor.
