Video: Hundreds of people entered The Evening Telegraph's seventh annual Education Awards and, once again, judges had the tough job of choosing a winner in each of the nine categories.
About 280 guests packed into the Key Theatre to celebrate the terrific teachers, super schools and star pupils from around the city.

Read about and the watch video of the individual award winners:

Dressed in silk, Daniella Haste was the first to collect her award for Best Pupil Aged 4 to 10. The six-year-old floated down the steps of the theatre like a princess, beaming with a sweet smile as she collected her award.

Raymond Li was next up with the award for Best Pupil Aged 11 to 16. The teenager received a huge round of applause as he went on stage to collect his award.

As Superstar played in the background Peter Homer, could not control his happiness as he picked up the award for Support Staff with a grin as wide as his face.

There were loud cries of "yes" when Sacred Heart School won the Environment Award. Pupils, parents and staff flew to the stage to collect their award.

Liam Witter was a little surprised when he picked up the Arts Award, beating off the two other talented youngsters in his category. As the Sporting Achievement Award was announced, Callum French's mum, Julia was delighted to pick up the award on his behalf.

Robyn Jones was overwhelmed to be nominated for two awards but the smile on her face proved she was happy to walk away with the trophy for Design and Technology Award.

There were extremely loud cheers, shouting and applause when Debbie Todd received the award for Support for Pupils with Special Needs. The 44-year-old could not hold back the tears on stage as she accepted her trophy.

As Hero played in the background, the final award of the evening was given to Carol Cliff as she also shed a few tears.

Not everyone at the ceremony could be crowned a winner and judges highly commended the other finalists so that every teacher, pupil, school and member of staff went home knowing that they were all stars of the evening.
