Orton youngsters win Border final

ORTON Park won the Border Counties Under 15 Final at the third time of asking last weekend.
The decider against Uppingham was twice abandoned because of poor weather, but Orton eventually romped to a 34-run win at Oakham.

Harry Meichan smashed 27 off 20 balls for Orton in their 20-over total of 94-1 and followed that up with a 21-4 spell with the ball.

Scores: Orton Park 94-1 (H. Meichan 27no, A. Moss 25ret, K. Hussain 22), Uppingham 60-9 (A. Laud 2-5, K. Henderson 2-14, H. Meichan 2-14, K. Hussain 2-15).



ASHTON Wold lost to Kimbolton by 14 runs and to Upwood by two wickets in their final two friendlies of the season.

Scores: Kimbolton 126-6 (A. Hare 34), Ashton Wold 102-9 (M. Buckley 51); Ashton Wold 140-8 (D. Blatch 33, R. Awdry 30), Upwood 141-8 (N. Tuffin 66, J. Mitchell 37).



STAMFORD seconds were beaten by five wickets by Buckminster seconds in the final Rutland Division Five match of the season at the weekend.

Scores: Stamford 96 (T. Williams 24no), Buckminster 100-5 (D. Roberts 3-31).
