MARKET Deeping have made it back into Rutland Division One at the first attempt.
Deeping were relegated out of the top flight for the first time in 26 years at the end of last season, but a six-wicket victory over local rivals Bourne on Sunday clinched the Division Two title.

Michael Kearns and Tom Anderson grabbed three wickets apiece as Bourne were skittled for 99 before Nick Cowley (42no) led Deeping's successful reply.

More than two teams could be promoted this season because of a league re-organisation and that could enable Barnack to sneak up after they recorded a sixth straight win.

The arrival of Peterborough Town professional Asim Butt has sparked Barnack's revival. This weekend he scored 90 after taking 5-18 against second-placed Uppingham.

There was also a rare win for Nassington at this level. They saw off Castor by five wickets with teenager Harry Chappell (79) and old timer Bill Taylor (61no) in prime form.

Castor had amassed 224-2 in their 45 overs as Laurence Davis (116no) and Ashley Rodgers (82) put on 175 for the first wicket.

Yaxley mustered just eight men for their trip to Stamford and paid a big penalty in a game that lasted just over two hours. Yaxley were all out for 42 and opener Pietr Hattingh made 28 of those.

Paul Keymer made an unbeaten 75 in his last innings for the club before joining the army. His knock and 55 from brother Ross Keymer enabled Ufford to see off Desborough by eight wickets in Division Three.

Desborough travelled with only nine men and one of them didn't bat as he was in the local shop when he was supposed to be walking to the crease!

There was a shock in Division Six as leaders Peterborough Town seconds crashed to an 86-run defeat at Netts. Stuart George made an unbeaten 119 for Netts before Sandip Dahiya captured six Town wickets for 19 runs.

Market Deeping completed a club double over Bourne with a six-wicket victory in the second team match. Ben Rae (7-35) was virtually unplayable as Bourne slumped to 102 all out.
