Clarke hits unbeaten ton as Town end with a win

DAVID Clarke cracked an unbeaten 107 as Peterborough Town completed their Northants Premier Division season with a 76-run win over Wollaston.
Opener Clarke was assisted mainly by professionals Waqas Chugthai (43) and Asim Butt (39) as Town posted a 55-over total of 245-5.

Captain Ajaz Akhtar then took over taking 6-41 as the visitors to Bretton Gate were dismissed for 169.

Town were already assured of third place. Northants Academy won the title with Finedon finishing second.

Wisbech skipper Gary Freear bashed a brilliant unbeaten 165 in a losing cause against Rutland Division One champions Rushton yesterday.

Freear, who had never previously scored a ton in this competition, struck seven sixes and 24 fours in an innings that occupied just 91 balls, but Rushton won a high scoring game by 73 runs.

Scores: Rushton 360-9 (D. Willey 88, D. Bendon 75, J. Williams 3-48), Wisbech 287 (G. Freear 165no, I. Burgess 29).
