Cambs League: YAXLEY and Khalsa are doing their best to throw away their chances of promotion from Cambs Division Two.
Both were beaten on Saturday to leave Yaxley just ahead of their city-based rivals in the race for the third and final promotion slot.

Yaxley were crushed by 87 runs at home to Fordham, but were cheered when hearing news of Castor's shock four wicket win at Khalsa.

Only Stuart Brown (3-14) and Mark Edwards (36) emerged with much credit for Yaxley as they allowed Fordham to pile up 219.

Khalsa were undone by a terrific spell of seam bowling from Neil Wright (5-30) as Castor eased their own relegation troubles.

Off-spin bowler Andy Knowles (3-29) also bowled well as Khalsa were skittled for just 125 despite the best efforts of Girpal Singh (41).

Openers Ashley Rodgers and Rob Vitas both scored 33 runs as Castor got home for the loss of six wickets.

Wisbech clinched second place in Division One after thumping neighbours March by six wickets in the final round of matches.

James Williams and Craig Johnson bagged four wickets apiece as March were dismissed for 135. Williams (29) also batted soundly in support of Dave Wood (32no) and Gary Freear (27).

Nassington clinched the title last weekend and a party atmosphere was prevalent in their final match at Ramsey.

Wicket-keeper Chris Budd opened the bowling for Nassington as they slipped to a six wicket defeat.

Adam Craig (49no) top scored for Nassington in their total of 162-6, but an unbroken fifth wicket stand of 90 between Leighton Gilbert (52no) and James Markland (44no) saw Ramsey home.
