A GREAT evening of 1940s entertainment has been lined up at the Nene Valley Railway next weekend.

There will be a Bavarian ‘bier keller’ night on Friday, 1940s dance on Saturday and 40s film show on the Sunday.

It all takes place at the Nene Valley Railway’s Wansford Station, and ties in with the station’s 1940s weekend.

The Spitfire Ball promises to be the highlight, with an evening’s top entertainment in the outdoor marquee.

The Forces Sweethearts, Miss Katie Spitfire and Keith Cross will all be performing. Tickets cost £10.

The Bavarian evening is also inside the marquee at Wansford station. Karl’s Bavarian Brass, the leading Oompah band, will be playing. Tickets cost £8.

Proceeds from the weekend will go to Hospital at Home, Help For Heroes and the Stamford Royal British Legion.

There will be a licensed bar and hot food at all shows.

Promoter Matt Page, from More Muzic, has also arranged a deal with a Peterborough taxi firm - City Cabs - where people can get 20 per cent off the fare from Peterborough to Wansford Station on the Saturday.

To book a taxi deal call 01733 341111 and quote NVR. To book tickets for any of the events call 01733 205353 or 07771668924.
