Locals happy with Garden Park extension plans

PLANS for an extension to the Peterborough Garden Park have been given the thumbs up from local residents during a public consultation.
Peterborough Garden Park (PGP) is a retail park situated off junction 8 Eye roundabout on the Paston Parkway that opened in spring 2010 after a £20 million investment.
A planned £15 million expansion which would bring a new supermarket to the park was supported by all at a Parnwell Residents’ Association meeting on January 9.
The vote came after a talk from PGP chairman Gordon Ellingdon.
Chair of Parnwell Residents’ Association Pam Chelmiah said: “We are happy to work with PGP so that the eastern side of Peterborough can have a vibrant future and greater footfall for all businesses.”
A consultation into the plans ended on January 10 and included 186 completed surveys that are now being analysed ahead of a planning application to Peterborough City Council.

Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at 02:22 PM@1 I agree. If only people would go they'd discover how nice it is there. But two things hold it back; 1) The bad press it had when it opened due to the traffic problems, and 2) it caters for large wallets. @2 I hope it isn't Asda as the Garden Park is currently chav-free.

Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at 01:47 PMIt needs to do something to bring in the punters. noticed they've started having a weekly car boot sale now too. We went on sunday and both Past times and the discount book store have gone, with one other empty unit (and a huge empty car park) it doesn't look good there at the moment - which is a shame as the garden center, and especially the food hall are great.
