Decision on car boot venue move
COUNCILLORS will decide whether to allow the car boot sale usually held near Peterborough United’s football ground to move to the Railworld car park.
Peterborough City Council’s planning committee will consider the proposal made by Railworld at a meeting on Tuesday before deciding whether or not to grant planning permission. A planning officer has recommended the plan be passed.
The car boot has to be moved from the Posh ground on London Road to Railworld, off Oundle Road, to allow for the redevelopment of the Moy’s End stand.
Should it be approved, car boot sales could run between 7.30am and 4pm on Sundays and Bank Holidays all-year round; and on Thursdays between 4pm and 9pm from April to September.
There have been objections and petitions made by neighbouring residents of Cubitt Way, who say it would result in litter being left behind, noise and traffic problems. Entrance to the site would be beneath the viaduct arches through the Fair Meadow Car Park, in Oundle Road.
