Talkative tots take up the Chatterbox Challenge
Coates Primary pupil Zac Eagling, 3, taking part in the Chatterbox Challenge
DOZENS of pupils at a village school are busy counting up the sponsor money they raised for children who struggle with their speech.
The pre-school and reception classes at Coates Primary School, in Coates, near Whittlesey, took the ‘Chatterbox Challenge’ last Thursday. Sponsored sing-a-longs and nursery rhyme games were held in the school hall, as part of an annual push to support the national children’s communication charity I CAN.
Head teacher Joanne Tomlins said she was extremely proud of all of the youngsters who took part in the fun challenge, some for the second year in row. She said: “The children have thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
“Developing language in a child’s foundation stage at school is a strength and it was wonderful to see the children and staff use this to help others.
“I’d like to say a huge thank you to all the parents and volunteers who helped to make the event a success.” London based charity I CAN helps thousands of youngsters across the country who have communication difficulties.
They offer training courses for teachers and carers, as well as running to specialist schools.
They also produce books and DVDs to help and support parents and children.
