RACHEL was nominated by Larraine Cooper for “always making time for people”.
Larraine explained: “Rachel works at the Old Fletton Surgery and has a heart of gold, always making time for people who need her help.
“A few years ago I started to care for a dear friend. She was 87 and needed the see the doctor on a regular basis.
“Being new to caring, Rachel often helped with my queries and would phone to make sure we were all right, as well as arranging cover so I could have a break.
“I lost Sylvie in November and would like Rachel to know how much she helped us and how grateful I am. Her kindness will never be forgotten.”
Speaking after the ceremony, Rachel said: “The evening itself was really humbling and I think that everyone there was a worthy winner.
“I had no idea that I was going to win, but I would like to thank Larraine Cooper who nominated me and everyone who voted. We do the job we do because we enjoy it, but to receive an award for it was lovely.”
“I was really shocked, and still am!”
