THE King family have had plenty to cope with, but keep on smiling.
Michelle and Paul’s son Oliver (3) was born with Down’s Syndrome and a range of medical difficulties.
Michelle, who made it to the shortlist of this year’s Tesco Mum of the Year competition, is planning a charity skydive and a ball to raise funds for the Little Miracles group she set up to support disabled children.
Last October, Paul took part in a successful Great Eastern Run with Oliver, who was determined to take part in the 4km fun run as he was promised a trip to the zoo if he completed the run.
The trip, which included all the members of the Little Miracles playgroup, cost the group thousands of pounds as they needed to travel with oxygen canisters and wheelchairs.
Oliver is thought to be the only child in the world to have untreatable esophageal atresia, which means he cannot swallow properly. The couple, who live in Whittlesey, also have two other children Imogen and Amelia.
Speaking after the ceremony, Michelle said: “I am really surprised, but it is great to know that the parents have been voting and people are liking what we are doing.
“It was a nerve wracking night because I have never been involved in anything like this before, but it was very special.”
