Meal for peace
REPRESENTATIVES of Peterborough’s many cultural divisions gathered together for a peace conference.
Organised by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association, it took place at the Ibrahimi Buffet Restaurant, in Dogsthorpe.
Prominent guests who attended were the Peterborough Mayor, Cllr Keith Sharp, and honourable Mayoress, Doris Merchant, members of the city police force and interfaith cohesion team members.
Introduction of Ahmadiyya movement in Islam was given via brief video documentary. The key message – love for all hatred for none – was conveyed.
The Imam of London Mosque, Ataul Majeed Rashid delivered an important speech on the tolerance for diversity in a multi-faith society incorporating the teachings and sayings of the Holy Prophet of Islam.
The Imam of London Mosque explained that it is our community’s belief that tolerance, respect, and love for humanity are fundamental in creating a peaceful society.
The event was concluded with a question and answer session where valuable and thought provoking questions were raised.
It’s hoped a similar event will take place next year.
