Latest Red Cross life-savers are honoured
Deepings Community Centre, Douglas Road Red Cross presentation evening Names:
THE latest batch of potential life-savers passed a first aid course in the Deepings recently.
The Deepings Red Cross held a special evening to recognise the achievement of 16 people who completed the course over the last few weeks.
At the awards evening they were each given a certificate by Edith Wesley, the senior services manager for Lincolnshire Red Cross presented the awards.
She praised the hard work and commitment to vital and life-saving skills which the certificates represented.
She added: “The work of the Red Cross relies on the service of volunteers and without their commitment and time many people in times of emergency would be without vital support from those trained on courses like these.”
During the evening two additional awards were presented.
Kevin Dixon, Deepings’ public services officer, gained his Institute for Human and Community Development Certificate in Ambulance Skills.
Liz Waterland, who taught the current crop of volunteers, retired from first aid training and duties after nearly 20 years, was presented with a picture from all her colleagues.
