Delivery move

ROYAL Mail has announced it is going ahead with its bid to move a rural delivery office to Peterborough.

Ketton delivery office, based in High Street, Ketton, near Stamford, will move to its delivery office in Orton Southgate at the end of April.

Easton on the Hill delivery office, which had also been under consideration for relocation, will remain in its current location for the foreseeable future.

The Post Office branches in Ketton and Easton on the Hill will also remain open.

A spokesman for Royal Mail said: “We do not expect these changes will impact on the delivery service we provide to our customers

“This is part of our business-wide investment and modernisation programme, in which Royal Mail is investing in the introduction of new technology and equipment, and upgraded operational facilities.”

The Royal Mail has also said there will be no compulsory redundancies made among the delivery staff and they will be reimbursed for any extra mileage they incur when the move goes ahead.

Royal Mail’s lead collection and delivery sector manager, Duncan Stephenson said: “This change is vital to help put Royal Mail on a sound, secure and sustainable footing for the future.

“Our service to customers will continue to be a top priority during these changes.

“Customers can be reassured that we would do all we can to minimise disruption to customers and ensure we maintain the high level of service they expect and deserve from Royal Mail.”
