City Scouts set to shine
A CAST of more than 80 young people and adults from the city’s Scout groups have begun work on this year’s Peterborough Gang Show.
The troupe attended the first of many rehearsals yesterday ahead of the show’s run at the Key Theatre between November 7 and 12.
Gang shows are a tradition in the Scout Association, dating back to 1932, which offers members the chance to show off their singing and dancing talents in front of a public audience or use their skills backstage or in producing the show.
Peterborough held its first gang show in 1947. Organisers promise a varied bill with songs from West End shows, classical musicals and traditional sketches.
Jo Christophers, from the city’s 2nd Nene group, who is taking on the main production role for this year’s show, said: “The show’s content will hopefully set our audiences fingers and toes a-tapping as they enjoy a night being entertained by the Peterborough Gang Show cast of 2011.”
