Christmas lights switch-on events for the community

THE city’s biggest landlord has organised mini festive light switch-ons for families living in Westwood.

Housing association Cross Keys Homes will switch on lights they have installed in the Hampton Court shopping parade on Tuesday, November 22.

There will also be Christmas crafts on sale at the event, which will begin at 3.15pm.

Claire Higgins, Cross Keys Homes’ director of operations, said: “Christmas is a special time of year for bringing people closer together.

“I am pleased that we are able to bring a bit of festive cheer closer to residents’ neighbourhoods.

“We also hope to use the events as an opportunity for us to meet as many residents as we can because we want to hear their views and thoughts on our work.”

Cross Keys Homes has invited local primary school pupils to sing carols to entertain the crowd.

There will also be special appearances from Santa and Peterborough Phantoms’ ice hockey players.

Mick Leggett, chief executive of Cross Keys Homes, said: “The aim of this event is to offer families the chance to have some festive fun with us at this special time of the year.

“We hope many people will turn out to enjoy the switch-on, which promise to be great fun.”

Cross Keys Homes will also switch on Christmas lights in Central Avenue, Dogsthorpe, on Monday, November 21 from 3.15pm and in Lawson Avenue, Stanground, on Friday, November 25 from 3.15pm.
