"SHOULD We Use Medical Technologies to Enable People to Live Hundreds of Years" was the question posed in a lecture to local pupils by a leading biologist.
The Reverend Professor Michael Reiss, who is head of the School of Mathematics, Science and Technology and Professor of Science Education at the Institute of Education, University of London, and a priest in the Church of England, delivered the lecture in bioethics at Peterborough High School last week.
Listening intently were pupils from Peterborough High School's Year 11 and Sixth Form, The King's School, Oundle School and The Thomas Deacon Academy, who then quizzed Professor Reiss on his lecture, sparking much debate amongst the students.
Headmaster Adrian Meadows was delighted to welcome such an eminent scientist into the school.
He said: "We are very privileged that such an expert in his field has shown us how to think about such an ethical dilemma.
"The pupils thoroughly appreciated Professor Reiss's thoughts. Their imaginations are fired for future debate".
