5PM UPDATE: A man has emerged from the house, been handcuffed and taken away by police officers.
12.10pm: Armed police are currently at the scene of an ongoing incident in Peterborough.

Around six officers with guns along with others in plain clothes have surrounded a house in Hartwell Way, in Ravensthorpe, Peterborough.

The area around the house has been cordoned off and the road closed both ways to traffic.

A man has appeared at the top right hand window of the house where he is seen to be talking to police.

One resident, Huoda Sabr, who lives behind the house in question said: "It's usually a really nice and quiet neighbourhood. I'm really scared. It's horrible to come out your front door to find this."

A police spokeswoman said: "Police are currently as the scene of an ongoing incident. The road has been closed and the area cordoned off as a precaution."
