HUNDREDS of Peterborough people turned out to show their pride in the troops serving in war zones across the globe.
An impressive £4,000 was raised at a family fun day held to support soldiers fighting abroad.
The Dragon pub, in Hodgson Avenue, Werrington, Peterborough, was the scene for the event, organised by Peterborough Supports Heroes, the shoebox charity appeal.
And with the sun shining and an impressive turnout, the day proved to be huge hit.
Miss Peterborough Lydia Fahy launched the fun day and crowds quickly gathered to watch the arrival of troops from the Territorial Army and RAF.
Relief manager at the pub Andy Simmons said the support from residents was overwhelming.
He said: "We had the mayor here and the Territorial Army, who brought a big juggernaut.
"We had two charity auctions, a barbecue and real ales donated by local breweries.
"The atmosphere was buzzing and there must have been more than 200 people there."
