Happy Faces nursery certainly put a smile on the faces of youngsters in Africa.
The Werrington based nursery held a fund-raising morning to raise money for The Dalitso Trust in Malawi and raised a sum which will certainly give them a welcome cash boost.

They had hoped to raise £200 and were delighted when they smashed their target to reach £300 on the day, which featured play, craft activities, face painting, a sing-along and refreshments.

Manager of Happy Faces nursery Claire Thomas said: "The children not only came along with their parents but also their older brothers and sisters. The grandparents who came said it was lovely for them to see what the children do at Happy Faces.

"People had kindly baked many different cakes for the cake stall, donated prizes for the tombola, brought along nearly new items to sell on and one lady gave me some lovely handmade greetings cards to sell.

"The book stall was very profitable, and a huge thank-you goes out to all those who donated books including the very generous The Book People, who donated a large selection of new books."

The morning was rounded off with a singing session for the mums and dads, as well as the children – and even the teddy bears enjoyed the songs after finishing their picnic.

Claire added: "I would like to thank everyone who supported the event. People were so very generous and the money raised is desperately needed to help the people in Malawi.
